CATHOLIC BISHOPS CONFERENCE OF THE PHILIPPINES
Dear Reverend Bishops,
Greetings of Peace!
Watching the news on TV has broken my heart greatly due to the scenes of devastation in the Central Visayas. I am overwhelmed with grief and sorrow for the plight of our countrymen.
I am begging the kind bishops to immediately organize a Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration for the dead and the surviving victims of Typhoon Yolanda this 16 November 2013, Saturday, at 5:00 PM. We know that the spiritual support our brothers and sisters need is as great as the need for corporal works of mercy.
I am sure that Catholic schools, institutes, Religious Orders and parishes are already in the midst of relief goods operations. But I am hoping the bishops could initiate an hour dedicated wholly throughout the dioceses of dedicated adoration to the Eucharistic Lord on behalf of the millions suffering in the Visayas and Southern Luzon.
I beg you, as a faithful son, to please lead us in deep prayer, to be organized throughout the archipelago so as to offer the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Eucharistic Lord all the pains, sorrows and sufferings as well as hopes and aspirations of our poor countrymen.
You have the wisdom and the power to initiate this campaign for prayer. Please, make use urgently and immediately of your influence and pastoral knowledge to foment this active sense of prayer for our country.
A good opportunity to pray as a nation in front of the Eucharistic Lord would be next Saturday at 5:00 PM, just before 6:00 PM Masses commonly said as anticipated Sunday Mass in countless parishes throughout the Philippines.
I hope you can consider this as a good suggestion. In this Year of Faith, let us turn to the wellspring and the source and summit of our lives in the Faith, the Eucharist, for consolation and spiritual comfort.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely in Our Redeemer,
Joaquin Carlos U. de Jesus
